Este glaciar es la corriente noreste del Campo de Hielo Norte. Esta gran masa de hielo milenario desciende del Monte San Valentín, el más alto de la Patagonia (4.058msnm) con una longitud total de 23 km (12km visibles) y un ancho de 3km. Glaciar Exploradores es un glaciar de valle que va de 180 m.s.n.m. a los 2000 m.s.n.m.
Hoy día para visitar este glaciar existe un sendero interpretativo apto para todo público, que atraviesa un bosque siempre verde, llegando a un mirador, que permite tener una visión panorámica del glaciar con Campo de Hielo Norte de fondo. También Existe un refugio de guías y baños para el uso público.
Para llegar al mirador son unos 30 minutos de caminata por una empinada subida en medio del bosque, que permite tener una vista única al glaciar y al monte San Valentín. Desde aquí se puede observar la masa de hielo milenario descendiendo sobre el valle.
Para su seguridad y cuidado del entorno, le recomendados hacer el trekking en el glaciar con un guía registrado en Sernatur y en Conaf, así podrás tener una experiencia inolvidable!
This glacier is the northeast current of the Northern Ice Field. This great mass of ancient ice descends from Monte San Valentín, the highest in Patagonia (4,058 meters above sea level) with a total length of 23 km (12 km visible) and a width of 3 km. Exploradores Glacier is a valley glacier that ranges from 180 m.a.s.l. at 2000 m.a.s.l. Today to visit this glacier there is an interpretive trail suitable for all audiences, which crosses an evergreen forest, reaching a viewpoint, which allows a panoramic view of the glacier with the Northern Ice Field in the background.
There is also a shelter for guides and toilets for public use. To get to the viewpoint it is about 30 minutes of walking up a steep climb in the middle of the forest, which allows you to have a unique view of the glacier and Mount San Valentín. From here you can see the ancient ice mass descending on the valley.
